CEDAR Audio and Mackie to collaborate on audio restoration for Soundscape

7 September 2001

Following the announcement of the liquidation of Soundscape Digital Systems, many users of Soundscape DAWs and processors have wondered whether their SSHDR1, R.Ed and Mixtreme systems have become obsolete. But they need not worry. Earlier this year, Mackie acquired SYDEC, the company responsible for developing the entire Soundscape range and, following the collapse of Soundscape Digital Systems, the newly renamed Mackie Designs (Belgium) BVBA, announced that it would continue to support the Soundscape range.

CEDAR Audio immediately entered into negotiations with Mackie Designs, and is delighted to announce that it has become the first manufacturer to sign a Soundscape Development, Sales and Support Agreement with the company.

"I contacted Mackie in the USA as soon as the news broke," says Gordon Reid, Managing Director of CEDAR Audio Ltd. "Two days later I was contacted by Erik Wijnen and Jeremy Matthew, who proved to be very keen to ensure a smooth transition for manufacturers and customers alike. Given that our aims are the same, it proved to be straightforward to agree a new contract between CEDAR and Mackie, and to give the 'green light' for Mackie to begin selling and supporting our declick and dehiss processes. I understand that Mackie has already received orders for the products, so I'm doubly pleased that we were able to reach this agreement so quickly."

Erik Wijnen, General Manager of Mackie Designs (Belgium) says, "Mackie is committed to continue the development, support, marketing and distribution of the Soundscape product range. It is in this context that we are very pleased to have entered into an Agreement with CEDAR to offer their well known and highly respected software in combination with Soundscape products."

Tony Williams, Sales Director of Mackie UK, adds, "Mackie is now swiftly establishing a new structure for Soundscape, and today I'm pleased to announce that Mackie UK will be representing Soundscape in the UK. This confirms Mackie's long term interest in high-end Digital Recording, Editing and Mixing products for the pro-audio world."
