Metro Broadcast addresses audio for video restoration with CEDAR

Metro Broadcast

20 January 2004

Metro Broadcast has over 20 years experience in all aspects of broadcast, ranging from shoots and editing to duplications and new media. The company prides itself on combining creative expertise with technical know-how and, with an investment of over £500,000, recently installed the latest archive restoration equipment including CEDAR for Windows for audio, and Archangel™ for video and film. Metro purchased CEDAR after finding a large crossover market in which Archangel customers were requesting audio restoration as well as visual restoration.

Last month, Metro won the 2003 CEDAR Award for Audio Restoration for Broadcast Use for a short film, 'The Roland Collection', in which art collector Anthony Roland displays his collection and excerpts from his catalogue. Audio Engineer, Daniel Klimcke explains, "The source material contained every conceivable fault, and tested the CEDAR for Windows system to the full. However, the processes successfully removed the crackle, hiss, sprocket hum, peak distortion and varying levels. The NR3 Noise Reduction module was exceptionally helpful with the broadband noise, and we were very happy with the results."

Clive Osborn, Sales Director at CEDAR adds, "The restoration work was extremely skilful, especially considering the large number of problems that Dan faced. Consequently, we were delighted to present this year's Award to Metro Broadcast."
