Sound Mastering (London) installs CEDAR Cambridge™ v2.6

CEDAR Cambridge v2.6

24 January 2006

State-of-the-art mastering & restoration facility, Sound Mastering, has recently added a CEDAR Cambridge™ v2.6 system to its range of CEDAR equipment. The company has purchased a number of CEDAR's latest processes for the system, including NR-4 Noise Reduction, Declickle 2 Impulsive Noise Removal, Phase Correction, plus the pioneering CEDAR Declip and the new Vintage Decrackle launched earlier this month.

Duncan Cowell, M.D. at Sound Mastering is currently using CEDAR Cambridge to restore a number of projects including the influential Blue Horizon catalogue for Sony BMG Music Entertainment; an on-going project restoring 1960s artists such as Fleetwood Mac, Chicken Shack and Duster Bennett. He is also busy restoring several hundred American roots acetates from King Records for Ace Records, and the Jamaican Studio 1 catalogue for Soul Jazz Records. He comments, "Declip will save the audio universe from squaring off at the edges. Everyone in restoration should have CEDAR Declip - it is a fantastic tool and will restore the most damaged of material."

The latest eight channel, 24-bit, 96kHz, CEDAR Cambridge™ system is a significant upgrade from previous versions. It incorporates a pair of completely new CEDAR algorithms, plus numerous upgrades to the core modules and facilities. The most powerful restoration system yet developed, CEDAR Cambridge™ v2.6 remains capable of cleaning up everything ranging from the earliest recordings to live broadcasts, removing more noise - and more types of noise - than ever before, without damaging the desired audio or introducing unwanted side-effects and artefacts.
